On I Liked You Better Before You Sold Out this Sunday, 6/30, we'll be having on Jason Kutchma, the Durham singer-songwriter who fronts JKutchma & the Five Fifths & Red Collar. He'll be on discussing his new effort, Sundown, USA, which has been released as two separate records; one solo and one with the Five Fifths. Tune in at 6 pm!
On Saturday morning 6/29 from 9-noon, Yardsale-A-Go-Go will broadast a special interview with author Dean Swinford. His new novel, Death Metal Epic (The Inverted Katabasis #1), was recently published by ATLATL Press. Swinford, an assistant professor of English at Fayetteville State University, is a south Florida native and longtime metal head.
We will discuss topics ranging from: his new novel; medieval neoplatonism and metal's esoteric thematics; corpsepaint and the poetic technique of prosopopoeia; and the complexities of metal fandom.
On Sunday 5/26, WXDU's local music interview show, I Liked You Better Before You Sold Out, will be making its return! Starting things off will be a preview of the Head On Booking & Management Showcase, which will be happening at Southern Rail in Carrboro June 8th. Guests will be Roberto Cofresi of New Town Drunks, whose new record, Kiss, we'll be playing, Michael Rank of Stag, who just released a new record also, The Weeds, and another album, Mermaids, set for later this year. Mark Holland, a local veteran, will also be joining us and discussing his latest projects as a solo artist. Phil Venable, the organizer and head of Head On, will be rounding things up. Join us from 6-7 pm.
On Sunday 5/19 from 2-3 pm, Divaville Lounge will host an in-studio interview with Durham's swing orchestra, the Mint Julep Jazz Band. Bandleader and trombonist Lucian Cobb and singer Laura Windley will talk about performing live swing music in the modern era, play songs from their new CD "Durham on Saturday Night," and play some of their favorite classic songs from the 1930s and 40s. Tune in for a swinging afternoon!

WXDU's garage-rock showcase "Who's Got The Cuckoo," along with WXDU, are proud sponsors of the 2013 Instro-Summit, the world's largest all-instrumental music festival. Join Crispy and Robby this Sunday night for Who's Got The Cuckoo, they'll be spinning instro-songs, talking instro-talk, and giving away instro-tickets! It's a must-listen event! 9-10pm EDT this Sunday, April 28th.
