Goner put out one of our favorite albums of 2013, Faking the Wisdom, and now they'll be joining us to perform those tracks (and perhaps some others) live in our lounge. 4pm Sunday 11/10.
Over the years we have amassed a pretty substantial collection of live recordings, primarily bands who have played live on our Sunday local-music show. We'll be posting them, a year at a time, on our new bandcamp page, wxdu.bandcamp.com. We started off with the 1996 benefit fundraiser CD, Power of Tower. Check it out!
Eros & the Eschaton are from Greensboro; earlier this year they released their debut, Home Address for Civil War, on the storied Hoboken label Bar/None. They're a duo, but their spacey layered music calls to mind the throbbing intensity of bands like My Bloody Valentine.
They'll be joining us Sunday, November 3 at 4pm for a live in-studio performance. Tune in to hear how two people can magically sound like at least a half-dozen.
Tune in to Polyphonic Perversity this Sunday, November 3, from noon-2pm for an interview with Rob Moose and C.J. Camerieri of the group yMusic. This New York based new music sextet blurs all the distinctions between indie rock, electronica, hiphop, and classical music, having worked with people as diverse as Sufjan Stevens, My Brightest Diamond, St. Vincent, Son Lux, Dirty Projectors, Nico Muhly, and many, many more. Their debut album Beautiful Mechanical on New Amsterdam Records features compositions by Son Lux, St. Vincent, Sarah Kirkland Snider, Gabriel Kahane, Judd Greenstein, and My Brightest Diamond. They're in town for a Duke Performances concert on Tuesday, November 5 at the Casbah. Tickets, recordings, videos, and more information here. Hope you can tune in!

In October of 1983, Duke University’s AM radio station flipped over to FM with the broadcast of David Bowie’s “Station to Station,” and marked the birth of WXDU - 88.7. Celebrating 30 years of broadcasting, WXDU is throwing a party at the Duke Coffeehouse on Saturday, November 9th. A testament to the lively interplay between WXDU and the wider community, organizers say several old Triangle bands are reuniting for the show. The line-up features long time members of the WXDU staff and many supporters of the station.
