 The Kneads, a Greensboro indie-rock band featuring former members of 90s titans The Raymond Brake and Geezer Lake, will be joining us for a live on-air performance Sunday, May 25, at 4:00 p.m. Here's a preview via their bandcamp.

WXDU's Local Music Series ends its Spring run tomorrow night at the Duke Coffeehouse with a triple bill of the highest quality. From Raleigh, you have shapeshifting weirdo pop of T0W3RS. Making its way all the way from Charlotte is the transcendant avant-jazz splattering of Great Architect, and from Glittertown, you can enjoy the wild Stooges/Bolan-bruising rawk of Johnny Alright. Doors are at 8pm. Show starts at 9pm. $5 or free with a Duke ID!

I Liked You Better Before You Sold Out is proud to present Dex Romweber Duo, who are celebrating the release of their third album, Images 13.   They've just come off a very successful (and long!) tour, but Dex and Sara will be coming by to spin yarns and records, and we'll be playing cuts off the new album as well.  Tune in at 6 pm.

Tune in to Polyphonic Perversity on Sunday, April 6, 12-2pm to hear an interview with Brooklyn Rider. The group (Johnny Gandelsman and Colin Jacobsen, violins; Nicholas Cords, viola; Eric Jacobsen, cello) is one of the most exciting string quartets currently out there, creating a veritable jukebox of musics from around the world and across history. They have been in residency at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill for the past few years, and they are playing a Carolina Performing Arts concert on April 6 at 7:30 pm in Memorial Hall, Chapel Hill, featuring soprano Dawn Upshaw. In this exclusive interview, they talk about their approach to concert programming, the intersection of the Western canon with musics from around the world, the act of collaboration, the ins and outs of Schoenberg's second string quartet (which will be the centerpiece of their concert) and so much more. WXDU welcomes Jukebox Graduates to the airwaves this Sunday, April 6, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Jukebox Graduates is Githens Middle School's Bruce Springsteen radio club. Sunday's program is the first installment and will feature original content from these Durham students, as well as music from The Boss and other artists.

On Sunday 3/30 John Howie Jr. will be stopping by to chat and he'll be toting his guitar along with him - he'll be playing a few cuts live from Everything Except Goodbye, the upcoming album and second effort from his outfit, John Howie Jr. and the Rosewood Bluff.  Their album release will be Saturday, 4/12 at The Cave in Chapel Hill, but you can get a sneak preview at 7 pm!      

 WXDU will give away a pair of passes for Moogfest 2014 this Friday, March 28 at the Heads on Sticks / Drag Sounds / Trashettes show at the Duke Coffeehouse. Moogfest will be held April 23-27 in Asheville, North Carolina. The 5-day festival is dedicated to the synthesis of technology, art and music, and honors the inventiveness of Bob Moog and the legacy of the analog synth. Offering an experimental line-up of daytime conference programming and nightly music performances, this is no ordinary music festival. Headliners include: Kraftwerk, Pet Shop Boys, Giorgio Moroder, M.I.A., CHIC feat. Nile Rogers, Flying Lotus and many more.

The duo of Ben Chasny (Six Organs of Admittance, 200 Years, Comets on Fire) and Donovan Quinn (Skygreen Leopards, solo LPs on Northern-Spy) put out their first full length as NEW BUMS just a few weeks ago, Voices in a Rented Room (on Drag City Records)). Tonight they'll be playing an early show at The Pinhook (117 W. Main St. in Durham) with Tashi Dori that starts at 7pm. Before that, they'll be on air talking with our own J. Kelly Davis and playing a few songs. Good ragged-but-poppy acoustic duo stuff FFO: stripped down Big Star, Epic Soundtracks, 70s psych-folk, etc. Don't miss it!
