We're doing some work on the streaming server, so the streams may come and go today (Friday 12/14). Bear with us!
WXDU is presenting an awesome show at the Duke Coffeehouse. Nathan Bowles, Wood Ear, and Wooden Wand alltogether, and of course it's free with your Duke ID, and $5 for anyone without an ID. Things get going at 9.
I've been thinking about it for a while and tomorrow I'm really going to do it. My shift is 1 hour and the song is 62 minutes long. I'm going to play it. The track is called Heaven Sent and it's the title track from their 1997 album. If you don't know about Half Japanese, you can learn some more here: www.jadfair.org and here: en.wikipedia/wiki/Half-Japanese. Half Japanese was formed by David and Jad Fair in 1974. Over the years they've released tons of albums and collaborated with some pretty great bands/artists, including Yo La Tengo, Sonic Youth, and Daniel Johnston. Jad's distinctively awful/great singing and guitar playing contribute to some really great pop songs. I haven't played Heaven Sent on the radio since around the time it came out, so I'm pretty excited about it and I thought I'd just let you know.
