Rock for Roe: 40th Anniversary Celebration benefitting NARAL Pro-Choice NC with the Mountain Goats, Blooz Travellerzz and CQR

WXDU is proud to be a sponsor of Rock for Roe celebrating the 40th anniversay of the landmark Supreme Court Roe v. Wade decision on Sunday, January 20th at The Pinhook.

Headlining the evening will be the Mountain Goats.  This particular performance will be, in the words of the Mountain Goats’ John Darnielle, “one of the rare-these-days old-school just-John hesher-neck-snap take-requests style sets” and he plans on attempting to harangue some of Midtown Dickens into stomping with him.  The evening’s debut Blooz Travellerzz set will be sure to entertain fans of the North Carolina music scene.  This band combines the talents of the entire Mount Moriah band along with M.C. “Hiss Golden Messenger” Taylor to permit them to perform a number of classic rock covers in their own signature roots-y style.  Creedence Queerwater Revival, made of up members of Midtown Dickens and Trip Knight, is the region’s premier CCR cover band.  There will be live DJ sets courtesy of WXDU-FM between all of the on stage performances.

Tickets cost may be purchased in advance from the Pinhook’s website (http://thepinhook.com/) starting at 10am on Wednesday, January 9.  A limited number of tickets will be available at the door the night of the event.  Doors open at 6pm and music starts at 7pm.  The event is sponsored by Duke University’s WXDU-FM.
