Aten is a start-up in the RTP housed in the Park Research Center on Alexander Drive. Taking advantage of the strength of the gaming community in our RTP, our topic in the first program of the semester, they are making a business of adapting gaming models and interfaces for middle school education. My guest will be Thomas Vaidhyan, Founder and CEO of Aten. We'll talk about his company's purpose and composition as well as his success and obstacles in helping North Carolina take advantage of the national educational emphasis on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). I assure you that you'll find Thomas to be a well-rounded and interesting guest. /cp

Influenced by the glam and punk movements of the 1970's, post-punk goth rock reflected the emerging goth subculture of the early 1980's. Founding bands included Siouxsie and the Banshees, Bauhaus, The Cure, Alien Sex Fiend, Christian Death, Specimen, etc. The legendary London nightclub, The Batcave, opened in 1982 and would become a center for this new music genre. Goth music encompassed not only gothic rock but also deathrock, darkwave, industrial and new wave music genres. Tune in tonight as we explore 80's goth on WXDU's College Radio Primer from 8-10pm.
We have made it to the Fatal Four! Help us pick the Final 2 who will battle it out live next Tuesday night at 10pm on Nobody's Driving.

Step into the Divaville Lounge on Sunday, March 27 as we pay tribute to the divine Sarah Vaughan! Vaughan's powerful voice and distinctive phrasing made her one of the most important jazz singers of the 20th century. In this tribute program, guest hosted by DJ Georg, we'll hear two hours of Sassy beginning with her very first recording in 1944, and ending with a track from her last full-length album in 1987. Along the way we'll hear Vaughan performing with Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, Clifford Brown, Count Basie, Quincy Jones, Sergio Mendes and Milton Nascimento. Tune in for an afternoon of Sassy!

"Born and raised Lower East Sider Jeffrey Lewis leads a double-life, as both a comic book writer/artist and a musician (or is that a triple-life?). His band Jeffrey Lewis & The Junkyard also has a schizophrenic existence, ranging between contemplative folk narratives and distortion-fueled garage rock. "
