NOW PLAYING:

WXDU News, Sports, and Information Tonight (5/24) 6:00-8:00

Join us this Memorial Day weekend for two programs that highlight veterans' wartime experiences and memories of those who did not return home.

First at 6:00, producer Helen Borten shares the stories of World War II veterans in "The Silent Generation: from Saipan to Tokyo." This documentary features interviews with more than a dozen veterans who reflect on their time in the Pacific during the last year of the war and how being forced to kill--and watch their friends being killed--affected them at war and at home.

Then at 7:00, listen as service members and their families share their perspectives on the impacts of and costs of war through poems, journals and letters. This program is a Hearing Voices Memorial Day special titled "For the Fallen."
