First at 6:00, The Endless Frontier, WXDU's own science show, takes a look at transitions. The hosts will discuss academic and career transitions as they interview people in different stages of their scientific careers about their goals and the challenges they face.
Then at 6:30: With election day coming up November 4 and early voting starting Thursday in North Carolina, WXDU is co-sponsoring a free get-out-the-vote rally next Sunday with the Pinhook and Democracy North Carolina. Caitlin Haran will be talking with Reid Johnson, event organizer and member of Schooner and Organos. Know Your Poll happens Sunday, October 26 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Pinhook, with performances inside the venue and on an outside stage on Main Street. The lineup includes PIPE, Shirlette Ammons, Daniel Bachman, Hammer No More the Fingers, Some Army, Midnight Plus One, SOON, and DJ Direwolf.
WXDU Sports is up next at 7:30. Martin Kang will have a look at Duke and NCCU athletics for the past several weeks, including soccer, field hockey, football, volleyball, and cross country. He'll also have a wrap-up of pro sports, with reports on the Panthers, the Hurricanes, and NASCAR. Next, he'll talk to Christina Gibbons, a sophomore on Duke's women's soccer team about the season so far and her experience playing on the national U.S. team in the FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup over the summer. She'll also address the controversy surrounding the field surface for the upcoming 2015 World Cup competition in Canada. Then Martin has a conversation with members of Duke's cycling team: Team President and junior Jacob Miller, Head Coach Ben Turits, and riders Matt Howe and Chelsea Richwine.
