Tonight, College Radio Primer dives head first into the freakish abyss that is Aussie punk/post-punk by focusing the bands that influenced generations to come (The Saints, Radio Birdman, The Birthday Party) as well as the underappreciated groups who were equally as exciting (Voigt/465, Primitive Calculators, Scattered Order, etc.). Artists like Lydia Lunch, James Chance, Arto Lindsay and Glenn Branca created new and exciting ways to mix art with punk energy and created a scene that became breeding grounds for some of the most important alternative bands of the past 30 years, most notably Swans and Sonic Youth.
