Eros & the Eschaton are from Greensboro; earlier this year they released their debut, Home Address for Civil War, on the storied Hoboken label Bar/None. They're a duo, but their spacey layered music calls to mind the throbbing intensity of bands like My Bloody Valentine.
They'll be joining us Sunday, November 3 at 4pm for a live in-studio performance. Tune in to hear how two people can magically sound like at least a half-dozen.
Loamlands, the new project from Kym Register & Will Hackney of Midtown Dickens, will be stopping by at 4:00 to play some songs from their brand-new EP. 88.7 FM or right here at wxdu.org.
That's right, everyone's favorite Triad-based channeler of the Stooges & T Rex will be stopping by the station to Sing and Play His Songs. 4:00 p.m. & don't miss it!
The dynamite Chapel Hill band Midnight Plus One, who just released their self-titled debut album, will be joining us for a live in-studio set this Sunday afternoon, July 28, at 4:00 p.m. Tune in over-the-air at good ol' 88.7 FM, or online right here at wxdu.org!
We're doing some work on the streaming server, so the streams may come and go today (Friday 12/14). Bear with us!
Tune in at 4pm Sunday November 11 to hear MC Taylor aka Hiss Golden Messenger performing live. HGM will release their new/old LP, "Lord I Love the Rain," which collects earlier semi/unreleased works, on Friday the 16th at the Pinhook.
Tune in Sunday 11/4 (um, today!) at 4pm EST (that's right, be sure to fall back today) to hear the fuzzed-out unstoppable pop stylings of Gross Ghost live on-air.
Dexter Romweber is a true North Carolina icon, and along with his sister Sara, he's currently doing some of the best work of his long career. They have a brand-new album due out on Bloodshot, and a show at Cat's Cradle on Friday 7/22. But first they'll be stopping by WXDU to play live on-air at 4pm this Sunday, 7/17. We can't wait!
OK, well, it probably goes without saying that web streaming on Mac OSX is, um, complicated.
I'd kinda like to hear from anyone who was still using the OGG stream, in fact, before I waste time putting it back online. Email computing@wxdu.org if you're desperate for it. And by "desperate" I mean "lacking hardware or software to play MP3," not "philosophically opposed to listening to MP3 streams." C'mon, it's 2011.
