WXDU's Mission
WXDU, as a member of the Duke University Union, exists to inform, educate, and entertain both the students of Duke University and the surrounding community of Durham through quality progressive alternative radio programming. WXDU seeks to give its staff the freedom to pursue their personal aesthetic within the framework of a cohesive format. WXDU aims to provide the listener with an alternative viewpoint untainted by commercial interests. WXDU resolves to maintain good relations with the music industry without compromising its integrity and nationally recognized commitment to quality programming. WXDU resolves to remain a laboratory where all members are free to make and learn from their mistakes.

The Swang Brothers play live on The Bull City Cosmic Hoedown - 7/28 at 7pm

Tune in Tuesday 7/28 during the 7pm hour on The Bull City Cosmic Hoedown to hear The Swang Brothers play live on-air.  They'll be bringing you their blend of rockabilly and country tunes from the 50's and 60's - complete with requisite crooning and substantial use of hair-care products.   FJ Ventre, David Quick and Eric Peterson make up this fine trio -- an offshoot of the about-to-be-retired band Edsel 500.  

 

Tin Star Interview, Sunday 7/26 at 6 PM

Steve Shelley Interview, Sunday 7/19 at 6 PM

Tune in for an interview with Steve Shelley of the band Sonic youth. Steve has been the drummer for Sonic Youth since 1985. In the interview, which was recorded at the 9:30 Clubin Washington, DC earlier this month by Phil Venable, he talks about his experiences being in Sonic Youth and with the label Smells Like Records, which he started in 1992.
