comp of hard-to-find singles from ~1962-1972. The term "Northern soul" came from it's origins in Northern England, ironically ... though it was based on black music forms from the USA. It's generally soul music but w/ a faster tempo and prominent beat inherited from Motown. It was also associated with dance crazes of the time that foreshadowed disco and breakdancing. |
