Artist Song Album Label Comments
the beatles cayenne anthology 1 apple Brief instrumental composed by Paul McCartney in the late 50's - one of the very first recordings by The Beatles.
the early doors go insane mind blowers past & present pre-Doors Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek and drummer John Densmore. Keys not nearly as prevalent as later famous Doors material.
spiders don't blow your mind back from the grave part 4 crypt pre Alice Cooper band, when Alice was still called Vince Furnier. All 5 members stayed together through at least Billion Dollar Babies. Frank Zappa had taken interest in them during The Spiders time and helped them at that point (i think their wearing dresses helped a little).
pink floyd lucy leave have you got it yet bootleg written and sung by the most superlative of rock renaissance men, Syd Barrett. Bob Klose on lead guitar. He had to leave the band so PF could achieve fame and fortune (one can also say the same for Syd). Top notch garage rock. Also titled "Lucy Lea in Blue Tights".
d.c.t. & the bossmen brainwashed the magic cube el cid records DCT aka David Clayton Thomas, he of later Blood Sweat & Tears frame. You might remember the songs "Spinning Wheel" and "You Make Me So Very Happy" - AM staples from the late 60's.
the iguanas again & again pebbles presents high in the mid-sixties vol. 19 michigan, part III aip This is the crunchiest, hardest, most rockin' one of our show. What can one possibly say about The Ig that has not been previously said? Even in the very early years, Iggy was in top form.
nazz back of your mind nazz rhino From the early Todd Rundgren years, Nazz being HIS band. There is an embryonic version of the early 70's mega-hit solo Todd "Hello It's Me" on this album. 70's version more melodic and upbeat. Todd went on to fame with solo work, Utopia, and production work.
bob seger & the last heard persecution smith michigan nuggets aep A rockin' one with extremely OTT organ from he who made banal and inexplicably hit songs popular with the masses, during the mid - late 70's.
jimi hendrix UFO hush now astan bootleg Boggles the mind how Jimi would stoop to this. Not a bad tune, really, until the ET chipmunk vocals chime in. He recorded this batch of songs just before embarking to the UK to form the JH Experience with Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell, and to knock Eric Clapton off his "GOD" throne.
tomorrow revolution mojo presents... psych out! mojo Ah! Awesome psych-garage from the band that spawned Twink, later of The Pink Fairies (and a member of the extremely brief Syd Barrett-led band Stars), and the incredible genius guitar wizard Steve Howe, later of OG prog-rock band Yes.
the moving sidewalks need me mindrocker: a us punk anthology vol. 4 paprbox Pre ZZ Top Billy Gibbons, presumably before sporting a massive beard and glued-on shades. Jimi Hendrix admired Billy's playing so much that he gave him one of his guitars.
todd rundgren money (that's what i want)/ messin' with the kid something/anything? rhino Terribly recorded, yet energetic, early tunes from TR....included on 1972's Something/Anything? solo record.
mynah birds i've got you in my soul 45 motown Absolutely killer tune from band that included Neil Young, Bruce Palmer (amazing bassist of Buffalo Springfield) and - wait for it- lead vocalist Rick James!! (of Superfreak fame)!!
the syn 14 hour technicolor dream nuggets II box set v. 2 rhino The Syn featured Chris Squire, future bassist for Yes, and Peter Banks, future guitarist for Yes. Peter named the band (Yes, that is, as Syd had named Pink Floyd) yet left after their second album Time and A Word, when the mighty Steve Howe took his place.
the pleasure seekers never thought you'd leave me friday at the hideout: boss detroit garage 1964-67 norton Records The Pleasure Seekers featured sisters drummer Patti and bassist Suzi Quatro. Patti went on to form the first all-girl rock band Fanny, and Suzi found fame in the UK with glam hits like "Can the Can". She also played Leather Tuscadero, Fonzie's gf Pinky's cousin on later episodes of "Happy Days".
golden earrings daddy buy me a girl nuggets II box set v. 2 rhino Dutch band later dropped the "s" from their name and went on record the FM radio earworm-inducing massive 70's hit "Radar Love".
spiders no price tag back from the grave part 4 crypt One more from pre-Alice Cooper band. Many thanks again to DJ Nick R. for help with ideas!!!
